It is a “whole system” process - yo u\, the rifle\, the optic\, the mounts\, the ammunition\, and the equipmen t\; utilizing optimized techniques and processes to prioritize consistency of outcome and speed. The process is biased towards durability over time - which techniques result in less drop off of skill/ability over time.\n\n This is not a “basics” class as most would think of it. Yes\, the foun dational aspects of field shooting are practiced at length\, but it is use d as a way to create a conditioned response to shooting.\n\nOUR APPROACH.\ n\nAll aspects of shooting- from handling\, loading\, unloading\, reloadin g\, and firing is trained in-depth\, as well as alternate field positions\ , medically validated terminal ballistics\, exterior ballistics\, and App use\; Kestrel/weather meters\, individual and optimum partner communicatio n and flow\, glassing and spotting shots\, corrections\; backup or emergen cy plans for data\, ranging\, and environmental\, etc.\n\nWHY WE DO IT.\n\ nThis is an intensive\, in-depth field shooting course that is designed fr om the ground up to make killing animals from 0-600 yards on demand\, unde r time and stress.\n\nNote.\n\nYou will shoot a significant portion of the course past 600 yards\, and out to 1200-1400 yards depending on setup.\n\ nTICKETS\nThere are two options available for enrollment in Shoot2Hunt Uni versity. Option 1 is $4500 total\, with rifle and ammunition included. You will still need to bring your own hunting gear. Option 2 is $3500 total w ith you responsible for bringing both rifles and all ammunition. If you ch oose to enroll bringing your own gear\, we will not. This ticket is your 50% deposit. \n\n\nLOCATION\n\nWill be shared with you after ticket is pu rchased.\n\nARRIVAL + DEPARTURE TIMES\n\nPlease arrive at the ranch no lat er than 3:00 PM on Sunday\, and leave no earlier than Saturday morning.\n\ nFLIGHTS\n\nThere are two nearby airport options: Billings Logan Internati onal Airport (BIL) and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN). BI L is a 1.5 hour drive from the ranch\, and BZN is a 2.5 hour drive from th e ranch. Please rent a car or coordinate a ride with another student\, as we cannot provide transportation to or from the ranch. Bring the setup that you cur rently or plan to hunt with\, minus food and cooking gear.\n\nRIFLES\n\nYo u will need to bring two rifles to the course. First\, your “hunting rif le.” Bring whatever rifle you would bring on your dream hunt. Second\, y our “training rifle.” Bring a low recoiling rifle for training and pra ctice\, we recommend a .223.\n\nBoth guns will be bolt guns.\n\nPlease not e that a suppressor is required for most of the course. If you cannot acqu ire one please let us know.\n\nAMMUNITION\n\n150 rounds of ammunition for your “hunting rifle.”\n\n1000 rounds of ammunition for your “trainin g rifle.”\n\nIf your rifle is mag-fed\, we recommend bringing at least 3 -4 extra magazines.\n\nOPTICS\n\nYou will need binoculars and a rangefinde r. If you have rangefinding binoculars that is great. You just need both o f those capabilities. A spotting scope or tripod mounted 15x binoculars ar e highly recommended\, but it is not required.\n\nSHOOTING GEAR\n\nBring t he pack that you hunt with\, your hiking sticks\, ear protection\, and a s hooting mat. We also recommend front and/or rear bags.\n\nCLOTHING\n\nPlea se bring the clothing you would hunt in or that is durable enough for fiel d wear and enough to make it through the week. There is a possibility for cold weather\, so we recommend bringing some layers as well.\n\nMake sure you have comfortable boots/shoes for near constant movement.\n\nSLEEP\n\nP lease bring all necessary items for you to sleep comfortably. We recommend bringing a sleeping bag and pillow. Although there may be a few beds avai lable\, we recommend planning to sleep on a cot.\n\nAPPLICATIONS\n\nWe rec ommend that you purchase and download the Shooter app for this course. Ple ase download it and familiarize yourself with it prior to the course.\n\nF OOD + SHELTER\n\nThree meals per day will be provided by our hosts! Feel f ree to bring your own snacks\, but food and water will be provided.\n\nYou will have either a bed to sleep on or a cot in the hangar on the ranch. T here are a few beds adjoined to the hangar\, but it's first come first ser ve!\n\nRENTAL RIFLES + AMMUNITION\n\nWe understand that not everyone will be able to bring their own rifles and ammunition. Many of you will be flyi ng from across the nation\, so bringing 1000 rounds of ammunition is not e xactly possible. Please read through the following information regarding s hipping your ammunition and / or renting a rifle.\n\nRIFLES\n\nWe have ple nty of rifles to rent. If you need to or would prefer to rent a small cali ber rifle from us as your “training rifle”\, please navigate to and re serve your rental through the S2H U Student Hub. The price is $50 / day\, for a to tal of $250 for the whole course.\n\nIf you have a small caliber rifle tha t would be perfect for the “training rifle” role\, but cannot acquire a suppressor\, please let us know.\n\nAMMUNITION\n\nAlso in the S2H U Stud ent Hub\, you will find information on how to purchase and / or ship ammun ition to us for the class. You\, as the student\, are responsible for brin ging ammunition to the class.\n\nGenerally\, it is not recommended to shoo t 5.56 through a .223 chambered rifle. However\, bolt guns in general\, an d Tikkas especially\, are perfectly capable of handling the higher chamber pressure of 556. Therefore we do not recommend but can at least point to the Palmetto State Armory 5.56 with a bullet of 69 grains or higher.\n\nAn y .223 cartridge with a bullet of 69 grains or higher will be suitable and acceptable to use as ammunition for our .223 rifle rentals.\n\nREFUNDS\n\ nIf something comes up and you can no longer attend Shoot2Hunt University\ , please let us know. Up to 6 months from the date of purchase\, we are ab le to refund you for 100% of your deposit straight back to whatever paymen t method you used.
